Jaime Reed
RN, BSN, IBCLC
My breastfeeding experience began over 20 years ago. As a new Army mom stationed far from family, I initially struggled to get my baby to latch. After 6 weeks of pumping and bottle-feeding, my son latched successfully. This experience led to my interest in supporting new families and helping other parents to enjoy their lives as new parents.
After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, I served in the US Army for over 22 years, alongside my husband. Before joining Tampa Bay Lactation, I worked as a postpartum nurse at Tampa General Hospital. I have served as a WIC peer counselor, childbirth and breastfeeding educator, and birth and postpartum doula.
I am a parent of five boys (24, 23, 17, 16, 13) and one girl (15). My nursing experiences include nursing strikes, failure to latch, exclusive pumping for one year, caring for a micro-preemie in the NICU, dealing with torticollis, tongue-tie, gestational diabetes, and more. These experiences enable me to provide high-level lactation support based on evidence and without bias. It is truly my honor to work with new families.
